On February 22nd, we once again welcome fans of Hungarian design to MOM Park on level -1, opposite Bortársaság!
Inspired by the success of our 2-week Christmas pop-up store last year, and taking advantage of MOM Park's kind hospitality, we will be hosting the Makers' Market audience at this location until April, across nearly 1000 m2, with over seventy creators at each event. Before, during, or after browsing, you can enjoy a coffee and cake or a delicious lunch in the building. Plus, on Sundays, parking in MOM Park's underground garage is free! As usual, there will be music during the market: DJ Donnie Jep and Jankó's super records will be playing!
You can also meet several new creators at our February market. Here's who you can expect:
- COMOD & MúltkorOtthon
Adrien and Lilla bring you the most unique vintage treasures – thus introducing a new area to the Makers' offerings, which we are very happy about. Both brands debuted in our Christmas pop-up store, and we are delighted that we can now count on them as permanent participants in the Makers' Market!
- GIHON
Flóra Varga, the designer of @gihon_budapest, grew up in a family of sculptors: creativity defined her childhood weekdays in her father's studio. A career in art was never in question, but the medium was: stone, wood, bronze, paper, textiles – she dabbled in many things, but she was most in her element when drawing.
From there, she turned to fashion illustration, which, through the Kisképző (high school of fine and applied arts) and MOME's textile department, flowed into a love for clothing design and materials. Her desire to leave a mark was expressed at times in pattern design in the printing workshop, and at other times in her personal collage diaries, constantly balancing between fashion and graphics. These branches converge in the GIHON riverbed: collages, pattern making, and easy-to-wear, practical garments that Flóra designs for carefree, joyful weekdays. For the city and nature – for the brighter side of life.
- malna°studio
malna°studio is a small, creative studio where Eszter Zsubori, the brand's creator, primarily works with graphics and illustrations. She typically thinks in collections, and her favorite medium is the illustrated wall calendar. This year marks the fifth appearance of her calendar, featuring Budapest's public spaces.
Eszter's style is constructive, aligned to a grid, and based on a defined system of rules, although the strictness of the latter varies from project to project. The structured nature of the elements is balanced by cheerful subject matter and vibrant colors.
In addition to calendars, she also offers postcards, coloring books, stickers, as well as knitted and crocheted small items, such as cacti.
- POPARTBOX Upcycled Budapest
The innovative and provocative nature of Popartbox's objects lies not only in the recycling of materials but also in the fact that the artworks and graphic collages they create are produced by emotional mechanisms that are "thought-provoking, captivating, and lasting." This creates a dialogue with the recipient's personality.
Through the appearance of text snippets and thoughts on the object, it enters into a dialogue with the recipient, thereby constantly being interpreted and forming associative connections with them. The meaning of the object is constantly reinterpreted within the viewer's context. The creators of POPARTBOX attempt to expand the associative montage using traditional applied art techniques. This allows Dürer's depiction of Adam and Eve to coexist with Buzsák embroidery.
The essence of the process is the thought, not the object. Their project includes digital elements that recreate visual content appearing on the surfaces of traditional materials. The world around us is a reflection of our conscious condition.
Their creations reflect on contemporary times through their message, using old materials, thus connecting ancient worlds with the present.
- SO by soraszonja
Dóri Tamási graduated as a goldsmith in 2004, but after a small detour, she returned to creating jewelry in 2015.
She originally thought and created in extremes, but time and her dear customers have refined her vision, so nowadays her goal is to express softer lines and visual experiences. She is captivated by simplicity and delicacy, but she likes to add something different, something complementary, and to create a piece of jewelry through the combined effect of these two. She strives to find a certain harmony through the use of details and materials.
She enjoys creating for those who don't want mass-produced jewelry but something that can belong to them for years, providing a unique visual experience.
SOYU Design
SOYU earrings are everyday, timeless accessories, created with meticulous attention to detail and a clean design. Each piece meets the brand's high quality standards, ensuring lasting value.
It often happens that after markets, you want to find a particular creator because they piqued your interest, but you can't quite remember their name. Therefore, from now on, we will publish a list of participants at every Makers' event. However, we are still happy to help if you are unsure who you are looking for – in such cases, please do not hesitate to email us!
So, on February 22nd, you can meet them:
