M. Kovács Conceptual Ceramics

Máté Kovács' ever -renewing small-series unique ceramic and porcelain product collection is one of the favorites of Makers' Market visitors. In his workshop, functional ceramics are created in addition to fine art projects. Tea ceramics, tableware, and various home furnishings are made using traditional ceramic techniques. Each piece is individually rolled or built porcelain or stoneware, fired at high temperatures. Máté always strives to make his objects lovable, while also performing their function perfectly. Their atmosphere is dominated by closeness to nature, lightness, and earthy colors.

For our fair at the end of May, Máté will revive an earlier series of his works in addition to the usual porcelain and stoneware objects. His plates with nature illustrations are made using a special ceramic-graphic process: monotypes, i.e. one-off prints, where he applies the graphics to the paper with his own clay paints freehand and then lets them dry. He simply smooths the images onto the freshly rolled objects while they are still wet, where the moisture content of the object soaks up the painted pattern. He peels off the sheets used as carriers from the dried products, and the resulting prints are unique and unrepeatable.

We look forward to seeing you next time on May 29th at the Makers' Market X Pici Piac fair held as part of the Downtown Festival , and then on June 12th at the Fény Street Market.
