Is it possible to make a living from crafts? And how long can such a business grow? Are these creators artists at all, or rather entrepreneurs? What is the new craft, and why should it be addressed on an entrepreneurial site? We spoke with the editor of the recently published Makers of Budapest.

Somewhere between an album and a travel book, the newly released Makers of Budapest volume. It features not only creators, but also design shops, and in two languages – with the undisguised intention of directing as many potential buyers as possible to creators. To those who work with traditional, heritage-preserving materials and techniques, but at the same time with a contemporary approach. The idea was given by a similar international publication called Made by Hand, and it was largely realized through a friendly collaboration. We talked to one of the editors of the guide, Petra Hoffmann, editor of Stilblog, about whether it is possible to make a living from crafts at all, whether these creators are artists or rather entrepreneurs, and how big the competition is.
