In the TAANKA workshop in Budapest, unique garments are created from special hand-embroidered kantha textiles from India.
Kantha is a traditional Indian textile art technique originating from West Bengal, which creates unique and unrepeatable pieces with its hand-stitched embroidery. Kantha is a traditional recycling technique of Indian textile art, where old fabrics are layered on top of each other, and the different layers are secured together with hand stitches across the entire surface of the material.
Simple or complex stitches convey emotions, stories, and traditions spanning generations, while bearing the imprint of the creator's hands. Kantha is also a sustainable art form, as it is made from recycled materials and connects respect for the past with a living, forward-looking approach.
The TAANKA collection includes coats, vests, sweaters, and smaller accessories made from this wonderful material.
